Multi-Surface Machining Improves Efficiency and Productivity

Shibaura Machine is making it simple to adopt a 5 (face) sided and/or 5-axis positioning machining strategy with our double column/bridge machines. 

Switching to 5-Sided or 5-Axis Machining 

While traditional vertical 3-axis machine approach a workpiece in three directions (X, Y and Z). Shibaura Machine offers two additional approaches to increasing performance. 

A 5-sided machining strategy utilizing a 1 degree indexing machine attachment machining strategy will improve machine tool production and the accuracy of the workpiece by machining multiple angle surfaces in one setup.

A 5-axis machining strategy utilizes a 1 degree indexing machine attachment with 2 additional rotary axes which allow a vector cutting tool approach to reduce or eliminate complex workpiece fixturing.
